Appan Samachar is an all-women news channel known as a village community TV network. It is launched on 6th December 2007 at Ramleela Gachhi under Deoria police station of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. The distance from district headquarter is about 55 km.
In the race of TRP and advertisement, maximum news channels telecast horror & spice based news. The village and poor people & farmers are not in the objectives of these channels. In the present time, media means profession not a mission. The effect of corporate sector & market also reflect the media.
The participation of women in media as a professionals is very low. The sound of women can't be raise in media without women journalists.
Thus, from these thoughts, the concept of APPAN SAMACHAR came on floor as an alternative media. This concept is the brainchild of a social activist and a journalist Santosh Sarang.
